Types of Dentures

Many people experience tooth loss throughout their lifetime. If you find yourself with missing teeth there are many options available including dentures. Dentures can help you speak and chew more normally and help give you more confidence in your smile. There two main types of dentures available to help you regain your smile.

1. Partial Dentures

If you have lost some permanent teeth, a partial denture can help replace your missing teeth. You connect your dentures to your remaining, natural teeth with a metal frame. You can remove partial dentures each day for cleaning and maintenance. You will need to clean your partial dentures each day to keep them clean and prevent bacteria growth, much like you do with your natural teeth.

2. Complete Dentures

If many or all of your teeth are missing, then a complete denture may be right for you. Your remaining soft tissue and bone help support the prosthetic teeth and help you with your ability to chew and talk as well as have a more natural looking smile. Just like partial dentures, complete dentures need to be removed each day for and cleaned for proper oral hygiene.

No matter what type of dentures you need, you will have to consult with a dentist for proper treatment and fitting. For dentures in Cary, visit this website.
